OnlyFire Vortex

OnlyFire Vortex

The OnlyFire Vortex is a charcoal cone that creates intense radiant heat for crispy chicken wings and other high-heat cooks on your kettle BBQ. I'd seen everyone recommending this thing after my rotisserie video, so I finally picked one up from Amazon. At around £29, it's less than half the price of the Weber version (which goes for about £65). The construction is solid - thick steel, riveted together, and it feels like it'll last. The concept is simple: you fill the cone with lit charcoal, and it creates a vortex of hot air that circulates around your food. The result? Seriously crispy chicken wings in about 30 minutes. I cooked 2kg of Aldi wings and they came out crispier than my usual indirect method. Half got my homemade BBQ rub, the other half got tossed in Frank's RedHot Buffalo sauce. Both were banging.

OnlyFire Rotisserie Kit

OnlyFire Rotisserie Kit

The OnlyFire Rotisserie Kit lets you do proper rotisserie cooking on your Weber kettle for a fraction of the cost of the official Weber version. When I looked at the official Weber rotisserie at £185, I thought it looked a bit naff for the money. The OnlyFire version is £89.99 (often with a 10% discount code), and after my first cook I can tell you it's properly impressive. The build quality is solid, everything fits together nicely, and it just works. For my first test, I did a whole chicken - my first ever rotisserie cook. I just dry-brined it with salt, stuffed it with lemon and herbs from my allotment, and let the rotisserie do its thing. About an hour and 15 minutes later at 74°C internal, I had one of the best looking (and tasting) chickens I've ever made. The skin was incredible, and my 9-year-old couldn't wait to get his hands on it.
